Beverly Hills, the Upper East Side, Palm Beach, these days, even the best part of any city is just a deluxe luxury suite in hell. Outside your front gates, you still have to share the same gridlocked streets. You and the homeless drug addicts, you still breathe the same stinking air and hear the same police helicopters chasing criminals all night. Every century has had an invention that has revolutionized their time. Something that the world had never seen before. Yet, afterwards, it couldn’t believe it went so long without it.
The 1800’s had the invention of the telephone, thanks to Alexander Graham Bell.
Instant communication between vast distances.
The 1900’s had the automobile, thanks to Henry Ford.
Instant transportation to physically anywhere.
And the 2000’s has had the evolution of the computer, thanks to Steve Jobs.
Giving us an instant access to information, communication, and entertainment, basically anywhere at anytime!
Steve Jobs will go down in history as a great mind that compares with some of the brightest inventors to have ever lived. Thomas Edison, The Wright Brothers, and Benjamin Franklin are just a few of many he will join. Jobs’ work will not be challenged when saying that it was life-changing! There will not be a hesitation to teach this. And we, ourselves in present day, have still not grasp the thought of how incredibly drastic the world has forever been changed. All thanks to the 33 years of work Jobs has given to this world. It goes way farther than just being a man who created personal computers, portable music players, cell phones, and e-mail tablets. He’s paved the way for an evolution in technology that will continue to amaze, stun, and most importantly, change the world decades after his death. One can only imagine how many thoughts, or ideas, or projects, or inventions Jobs had that didn’t come to fruition.
But as Jobs himself said, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything, all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
It is no question that Jobs lived by his word all the way to the end. With just yesterday’s release of the iPhone 4S. And though it may not be another stunning invention. It is stunning to see that truly to the end of his life, Jobs was giving to the world his inventions that it uses without hesitation.
